How we use your information
This notice explains what happens to the personal information you send us through the enquiry form on this website, by email, or while we're working together.
Last updated 5 November 2026
Who we are
49 Degrees Ltd is the controller of your personal information. We're a private limited company registered in England and Wales, company number 17416240, with our registered office at 1 Bye Road, Lidlington, Bedford, England, MK43 0RU.
For anything about your information, email hello@49degrees.uk.
What we collect
When you make an enquiry, we collect:
- your name and email address
- the service you're interested in, the date, and the number of guests
- anything you write in the details box, such as the occasion, the location, or what your kitchen or business needs
If we go on to work together, we may also collect your address or the venue address, phone number, menu choices, and the billing and payment details we need to invoice you.
Allergies and dietary needs. If you tell us about allergies, intolerances or medical dietary needs, that is health information, which the law treats as more sensitive. We only ask for it so we can cook safely for you and your guests. If you share details about your guests, please make sure they're happy for you to do so.
How we use it
We use your information only to:
- reply to your enquiry, discuss what you need, and send you a quote
- plan, shop for and deliver the services you book with us
- invoice you and keep the business and tax records we're required to keep
We don't use your information for marketing, we don't add you to a mailing list, and we never sell or share it for anyone else's marketing.
Our lawful basis
Data protection law requires us to have a lawful reason for each way we use your information.
- Enquiries and quotes
- Taking steps at your request before entering into a contract. If you enquire on behalf of a business, our basis is our legitimate interest in responding to business enquiries.
- Delivering a booking
- Performing our contract with you or your business.
- Allergies and dietary needs
- Taking steps before a contract and performing it, because cooking safely for you and your guests is part of the service. As this is health information, we also need your explicit consent, which you give when you choose to tell us about it. You can withdraw that consent at any time, but we can't safely cook for someone whose allergies we don't know about.
- Financial records
- Complying with our legal obligations, such as keeping accounting records for HMRC.
You don't have to give us any information, but we need your name and email address to reply, and the details of your booking to deliver it.
Who we share it with
We don't share your information with anyone except the service providers we need to run the business. They act only on our instructions:
- our email provider
- Cloudflare, which hosts this website, delivers messages from the enquiry form, and runs the spam check on it
- our accountant, for invoices and financial records
We may also share information where the law requires it, for example with HMRC or a local authority environmental health officer.
Some of these providers may store data outside the UK. Where they do, the transfer is covered by UK adequacy regulations or by contractual safeguards approved by the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that don't go ahead: deleted within 12 months of our last contact.
- Bookings and invoices: kept for 6 years after the end of the financial year they relate to, as the law requires.
- Allergy and dietary information: deleted within 12 months of your event or the end of our work together, unless you ask us to keep it for a future booking.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the information we hold about you
- ask us to correct anything that's wrong or incomplete
- ask us to delete your information
- object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use it
- ask us to transfer information you've given us to you or to another organisation
- withdraw your consent where we rely on it, without affecting anything we've already done
Some of these rights depend on our lawful basis, and we may need to keep certain records to meet our legal obligations. To use any of them, email hello@49degrees.uk. We'll reply within one month.
Cookies and spam protection
This website doesn't use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. The fonts and images are served from our own site.
To stop automated spam, the enquiry form uses Cloudflare Turnstile. It checks technical details such as your IP address and browser to confirm that a person, not a bot, is sending the form. Cloudflare uses this information only to provide the check, and it doesn't use it for advertising or to track you across other websites. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in keeping the form free of spam. You can read more in Cloudflare's Turnstile privacy addendum.
Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this notice
If we change how we use your information, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
